Autumn is such a vibrant and beautiful season. But the visual spectacle of the richly coloured changing leaves can feel fleeting, and the growing nights this side of the equinox, for some of us, can be a not-so-welcome reminder that winter lies ahead (though this has its gifts too).

As the leaves return to the earth, Autumn reminds us of the importance to ourselves, return to the earth. Getting grounded, slowing down a little, and returning to those cosy creature comforts, or ‘Hygge’, help sustain us through the colder months. By mirroring the changes and transitions in nature, we can create a far more balanced and harmonious existence that benefits our immune systems, as well as our spiritual and mental wellbeing.

In this workshop, we are weaving together a rich tapestry of practices to create a sense of grounding and surrender, bringing your body, mind and spirit into greater harmony. This will be a holistic and indulgent morning, opening with a season-inspired meditation and guided kriyas and pranayama (energy and breath) practices. Jamie will lead a gorgeous grounding flow to get you feeling fully embodied, before slowing down with Nicole into a restorative sequence and deeply restful yoga Nidra. We’ll also be throwing in some live musical accompaniment from the Hand Pan and Cello and some additional surprise treats to enjoy both in the class and to take home…  all will be revealed!

Nicole

Nicole has been practicing yoga for over 20 years, initially attending classes at local gyms. Having studied contemporary dance in her formative years, the physical benefits such as building flexibility were a big draw at first. However, it wasn’t long before she left classes having benefitted with much more than a good stretch! Curious to discover the wider benefits of yoga Nicole committed to attending regular classes, initially learning from the teachings of Anusara yoga; an alignment-focussed practice which helped heal an old injury. Yoga quickly became an anchor in her life, providing much needed space to nurture both physical and mental wellbeing; a necessary complimentary practice alongside her career working as a person-centred guidance practitioner and women’s rights advocate. Nicole is passionate about sharing accessible practices that can be integrated into daily life. Her classes are inclusive and encourage mindful awareness with reflective elements, to cultivate a closer mind-body connection.

Jamie

Having worked in professional theatre Jamie was originally drawn to the physical benefits of Yoga. His practice deepened after becoming a father and realising that the benefits stretched much further than just physical well-being. Yoga became an essential tool for navigating parenthood, and a busy career. Jamie took his 200-hour teacher training in 2019 developing a continued passion for learning and teaching the many gifts of Yoga  which soon blossomed into a full time career.

Jamie  is now a 500 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher who trained with The Shala in London. As part of his training, he has gained qualifications in Core Studies, Pranayama, Yin, Yoga Nidra and Yoga Philosophy, to add to previous qualifications in Rocket, Wheel, and Trapeze Yoga. His inventive and playful style infuses a passion for linking breath and movement and exploring the creativity that Vinyasa flow can bring to traditional Hatha poses. Jamie has further qualified as a Reiki practitioner and uses his wisdom to inform his teachings and connections with his clients.
