Styles of Yoga

There are many different styles of yoga out there, whether you want an easy class, one more physically demanding, relaxing, or meditative class.

Hatha Yoga

This class is suitable for everyone.

Hatha yoga is an ancient asana practice which integrates breath, body, and mind. This class is a relaxed yoga practice that integrates breath work with deliberate muscle elongation, toning and spacial awareness.

Hatha yoga creates the right space for self-transformation by providing a greater sense of balance and direction both physically and energetically. The systematic relaxation, pranayama (breath-work), and meditation in this class is meant to harness the mind’s attention and the body’s strength. Students are encouraged to develop a reflective practice on the mat, refining their awareness which builds a stronger mind/body connection

Women’s Wellness

This class is open to all women in all the different stages of their life, including pregnant ladies.  It is a class designed to bring awareness into the female body.

In the session we will practice gentle, but effective, movements and meditations inspired by the Hatha Yoga tradition.  If you are seeking an hour and a half of deep relaxation, nourishment, regaining vitality, creativity and being fully present in your body, this class is for you.

Pilates

Pilates is a series of techniques designed to improve muscular flexibility, strength and develop a strong core. The mat – based exercises will promote better posture, body alignment and mental wellbeing. There is emphasis on breathing, stabilisation and there are modifications for specialist conditions

Pilates will strengthen your body through a range of controlled continuous flowing movements. Pilates helps to bring balanced development to the whole body. Pilates exercises are performed on a mat and on specially designed equipment.

Dynamic Flow

This class is suitable for everyone.

In a Vinyasa Form and Flow class poses are intertwined with the thread of the breath leading the way. There is an emphasis on bringing the skeletal structure back into greater alignment through concise alignment detail, delivered within a flowing sequence which encourages diffused awareness. Vinyasa Form and Flow is an Energetic practice where strength is explored alongside ease and softness in balanced action. Various relaxation methods are practiced during these sessions ranging from: yoga nidra, crystal healing singing bowls, guided meditations to total relaxation. Some classes may weave tantric philosophical themes into them which can profoundly awaken consciousness.

Meditation Rebalance Recharge

This class is open to all levels of meditation, from complete beginner to seasoned meditator.

The classes are an invitation to slow down, rest, recharge and find the quiet, still space within. These sessions are dedicated to sharing different techniques of meditation to help you become more centred, relaxed and grounded. The techniques will include, guided, seated, silent and walking meditations, trataka (concentrated gaze meditation) and many more.

Each class will end with a Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep), this ancient yogic practice allows us to experience deep freedom and to find our true state of being.

Restorative

This slower, movement meditation class, is suitable for everyone.

Students will use the healing qualities of essential oils to relax or awaken senses before being bathed with the singing bowls. Everything on the planet, including us, is vibrating a resonant tone, even if you do not hear or feel it. When an organ or body part is healthy this too has a resonance which has a harmonic attunement with the rest of the body.

When working with crystal healing sound bowls profound effects within the organs, tissues, cells of the body as well as the circulatory, endocrine and metabolic systems come back towards optimal vibratory resonance.

Your strength will improve along with flexibility in a balanced way. Various relaxation methods are practiced during these sessions ranging from: yoga nidra, crystal healing singing bowls, guided meditations to total relaxation. This class creates the right space for self-transformation by providing a greater sense of balance and direction both physically and energetically.

Improvers Yoga

A great yoga class for complete beginners to yoga and for people wanting to improve their practice or commitment to frequency of practice. This is the ideal stepping-stone class if you have already taken a beginner’s yoga course.

 

You will learn or recap basic pranayama techniques, skilful application of Tantric meditations, alignment detail and cues, Sanskrit and street language names for yoga poses, introduction to various mantras (chants, songs, life affirming words) and mudras (hand gestures which invoke meaning, intention and create an energetic seal within the body). You will learn Namaskars, their meaning, purpose and sequences. You will be introduced to spiritual sutras, tantric philosophy and empowered thinking and doing.
