Pregnancy can be a time of great stress and anxiety as well as joy. As a midwife & yoga practitioner, I firmly believe there is an imperative need for pregnant women to slow down and connect to their feminine energy, to bond with their baby & changing body.
Pregnancy Yoga is a form of exercise that is very safe for women to enjoy during the whole of their pregnancy. It can help to alleviate many common pregnancy ailments like:

The coping mechanisms taught through class help not only in labour but the postnatal period & beyond. There will be techniques you can even teach to your partner, family members or friend to help them manage stress while you’re giving birth! Pregnancy yoga is truly holistic & at Alchemise Yoga we aim to teach in a way that benefits your family unit as a whole.
Coming to classes also gives you the opportunity to meet other pregnant women who live in your local area. It is a fantastic way of building a support network close to home.
A Typical Pregnancy Yoga Class
We like to keep things interesting & engaging so you won’t be doing the exact same thing each and every week. You will, however, become very comfortable & familiar with lots of what we teach you:
- Welcome & introductions
- Warm-up on the mat including breathing & gentle stretches
- Simple standing sequence
- Group/partner work
- Exercises on all fours
- Labour breathing practice-learning to cope with your contractions
- Final relaxation/meditation with visualisation techniques
- The closing of practice/affirmation circle
- Confidence about giving birth!
